The Iowa Driver Improvement (DIP) will examine attitudes and behavior in relation to driving. It will focus on teaching drivers how their behind the wheel attitude affects their driving behavior. Its purpose is to give participants an opportunity to reflect on their driving behavior and make a commitment to positively alter their daily driving experience.
Please note, cancellations must follow IWCC Policy. If not followed, a rescheduling fee will be applied.

Hitchcock Folk School | Wood Carving

Join naturalist and artisan Dustin Clayton to Learn how to turn wood from Hitchcock’s forests into useful/beautiful items. This four-session class will cover the basics of wood carving using a limited tool kit. We will discuss: History and design, Woodland ecology/sustainable harvest, wood choice, tool choice, safety with edged tools, and tips and techniques for successful carving. Our primary project will be carving stylized versions of native birds.

This class is for those that were arrested for an OWI over the age of 18. Class is designed to help each person reduce risk for any type of alcohol or drug problem by helping them understand and accept the need to make necessary changes to reduce the risk for future problems. The class meets state requirements under sections 321J.2 and 321J.17, Subsection 2, and is open to anyone wishing to better understand their problem. Students with limited English proficiency must provide their own interpreter.

Class is designed to help each person reduce risk for any type of alcohol or drug problem by helping them understand and accept the need to make necessary changes to reduce the risk for future problems. The class meets state requirements under sections 321J.2 and 321J.17, Subsection 2, and is open to anyone wishing to better understand their problem. Students with limited English proficiency must provide their own interpreter.

Hitchcock Folk School | Medicine Making, oils and Salves

Plants have been used to treat illness for many thousands of years. One of the ways that people have historically presed plants, is through the process of making infused oils and salves. During this two-hour program, join naturalist Dustin Clayton for a demonstration of the process of creating your own herbal salves. Learn some of the ways plants have historically been used and preserved. Learn the different methods and supplies necessary and aid in the creation of infused herbal oils and salves.

Live from Laurel Canyon: Songs & Stories of American Folk Rock

Live from Laurel Canyon - Songs and Stories of American Folk Rock" is an evening of live music and narrated stories of some of the most influential songwriters who lived in Laurel Canyon in the mid 1960s and 70s. Similar to other legendary rock and roll neighborhoods of the same era like Haight Ashbury in San Francisco or Greenwich Village in NYC, Laurel Canyon was a community of artists who would forge a new genre of music (Folk Rock) and forever change the look, sound and attitude of American pop music. Live from Laurel Canyon celebrates The Mamas and The Papas, the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Doors, Crosby, Stills, & Nash, Neil Young, James Taylor, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, America, and the Eagles with their own unique interpretations of some of the most iconic songs of the era. Much more than a 'tribute' act, Live from Laurel Canyon not only performs the music you love in a new and unique way but shares with you the stories that inspired them.

ServSafe Manager Certification

Please register at least two weeks prior to the scheduled date. On that day, you'll attend a 4-hour review and Q&A session with the instructor, followed by the 2-hour certification exam. A ServSafe study guide will be mailed to your address on file upon registration. This is an independent study - ServSafe Manager course—students are expected to study the materials on their own in advance. The testing day includes a brief Q&A session and ends with the national certification exam. The course provides essential food safety knowledge for food handlers, covering topics such as foodborne illness, contamination, receiving and storing food, preparation, service, hygiene, sanitation, pest control, and inspections. It is ideal for those in restaurants, long-term care, assisted living, schools, food trucks, and small food businesses.
