Our course is designed to improve a driver's skills, focusing on preventing accidents and responding safely to potential hazards on the road. Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED (Asthma care video is optional) online is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs first aid & CPR AED training and a course completion card for job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements. The course is intended for those involved in childcare who have a duty to respond to illnesses and injuries in children/infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. It is also ideal for anyone who wants to be prepared to respond effectively to emergencies at work, home, or in the community. An eLearning link will be sent to your personal e-mail. This class is for those that were arrested for an OWI over the age of 18. Class is designed to help each person reduce risk for any type of alcohol or drug problem by helping them understand and accept the need to make necessary changes to reduce the risk for future problems. The class meets state requirements under sections 321J.2 and 321J.17, Subsection 2, and is open to anyone wishing to better understand their problem. Students with limited English proficiency must provide their own interpreter.

Historic Preservation Commission Meeting

The Historic Preservation Commission makes recommendations to the City Council on land use; gifts and donations of real and personal property, the preservation, restoration, maintenance and operation of historic properties; identification and designation of historic districts and sites; and makes recommendations to the Zoning Board of Adjustment on conditional uses involving historic sites. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at City Hall in the Council Chambers.

The Iowa Driver Improvement (DIP) will examine attitudes and behavior in relation to driving. It will focus on teaching drivers how their behind the wheel attitude affects their driving behavior. Its purpose is to give participants an opportunity to reflect on their driving behavior and make a commitment to positively alter their daily driving experience.
Please note, cancellations must follow IWCC Policy. If not followed, a rescheduling fee will be applied.

ServSafe Manager Certification

Please register at least two weeks prior to the scheduled date. On that day, you'll attend a 4-hour review and Q&A session with the instructor, followed by the 2-hour certification exam. A ServSafe study guide will be mailed to your address on file upon registration. This is an independent study - ServSafe Manager course—students are expected to study the materials on their own in advance. The testing day includes a brief Q&A session and ends with the national certification exam. The course provides essential food safety knowledge for food handlers, covering topics such as foodborne illness, contamination, receiving and storing food, preparation, service, hygiene, sanitation, pest control, and inspections. It is ideal for those in restaurants, long-term care, assisted living, schools, food trucks, and small food businesses.

Zoning Board of Adjustment Meeting

The Zoning Board of Adjustment hears requests for conditional use permits and requests for variances from the Zoning Ordinance. The board also conducts hearings on appeals of administrative interpretations pertaining to the Zoning Ordinance. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month in the Council Chamber on the second floor of City Hall.
